Donald Campbell's Bluebird roars back to life in test
The partially rebuilt Bluebird has undergone its first main engine test in the North Shields yard of engineer Bill Smith.
Bluebird claimed the life of Donald Campbell on Coniston Water in 1967.
Mr Smith and a team of volunteers have spent 15 years rebuilding the boat from wreckage salvaged from the Cumbrian lake in 2001.
The original engine was beyond repair, but a donated replacement is almost identical to the one used in 1967.
