The vet helping Sri Lanka’s street dogs: What happened next

After a story captured hearts across the world on social media, something amazing happened.

Janey Lowes from Barnard Castle, County Durham, has spent the past two years caring for street dogs in Sri Lanka.

The 28-year-old set up charity WECare Worldwide to raise money to buy the equipment needed to treat the animals and to set up her own clinic in Talalla.

After her story appeared on social media in January, Janey was contacted by thousands of people and money raised through donations has secured the hospital for one year.

She said: "I can't explain how thankful we are."
