Pressure wash for 175ft Westbury White Horse in Wiltshire

A hill figure described as a "bit of a grey mare" is being scrubbed by a team of volunteer abseilers.

The 175ft (53m) Westbury White Horse in Wiltshire is covered in alga and lichen and is being restored to white in time for the Queen's 90th birthday celebrations.

Up to 20 volunteers have spent the weekend "dangling on the end of ropes" power cleaning the horse, which is carved into a very steep slope.

It was last given a scrub down in 2012.
