Gloucester's hidden Roman history opened to the public
A hidden piece of Gloucester's Roman history is to be opened to the public for the first time in almost 20 years.
The King's Bastion chamber, beneath a trap door in the King's Walk shopping centre, contains surviving parts of the city's Roman walls and remains of a medieval tower.
Until recently the underground room suffered from flooding and was unsafe for people to visit.
It will be open to the public in a series of guided tours next Thursday and Friday as part of Gloucester's Heritage Open Days.
