Crofton Beam Engines: Repair work starts on historic boiler

Repair work is under way on a boiler which powers the pumping engines on the Kennet and Avon canal.

The Crofton Beam Engines were built to supply water to the highest point of the canal south of Marlborough, where it runs through Savernake Forest.

They now need repairs ahead of opening to the public for events during the Easter holidays and the boiler's rivets also need to be replaced.
