Wiltshire fox released back into the wild after pit rescue

A fox, which was trapped in a pit, has been rescued by firefighters and released back into the wild.

The animal walked out into a rain-filled plastic sheeting, covering a slurry "lagoon" at a Warminster farm.

Because of the steep and slippery sides, he was unable to get back out on his own.

The RSPCA and the Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service helped the fox get out.
