York Minster's 2,000 year history unveiled

Artefacts and remains dating back to the 7th century, some of which have previously never been exhibited publically, are to go on show in York Minster.

The £10m Revealing York Minster project, which opens at the weekend in the Minster's undercroft, tells the story of the last 2,000 years on the historic site.

Excavations in the 1970s uncovered a hidden history of the Minster, including the remains of a Roman barracks, an Anglo-Saxon cemetery and the foundations of the original Norman Minster.
