Kate Carroll relieved murder appeal turned down

The widow of murdered Northern Ireland policeman Stephen Carroll has spoken of her relief that two men jailed for his murder have lost an appeal against their convictions.

Constable Stephen Carroll was shot dead by dissident republicans in 2009 as he responded to a 999 call in Craigavon, County Armagh.

Brendan McConville, 42, of Glenholme Avenue in Craigavon, and 22-year-old John Paul Wootton, from Colindale in Lurgan, will continue to serve their life sentences.
