Bloody Sunday investigation faces judicial review

Relatives of civil rights marchers shot dead in by British soldiers in Londonderry in 1972 have lodged a legal challenge against the decision to scale back the murder investigation.

Lawyers acting for the Bloody Sunday families have requested a judicial review of the proposal by PSNI Chief Constable George Hamilton.

Most of the Bloody Sunday investigation team is to be laid off in the wake of £50m cuts to the policing budget.

John Kelly, whose 17-year-old brother Michael was among those killed, said George Hamilton had "no right" to stop the investigation.
