Maghaberry Prison report: Justice Minister David Ford will not resign

Northern Ireland justice minister David Ford has said he does not intend to resign after a damning report on Maghaberry Prison.

Nick Hardwick, Her Majesty's Chief Inspector of Prisons in England and Wales, said it was the most dangerous jail he had ever inspected.

Mr Ford said good work was being done by the senior team in the Northern Ireland prison service to address the issues highlighted in the report.

In a stormy interview with BBC News NI's Helen Jones, he said: "I will certainly not be resigning while I lead the important reform programme, working with (NI Prison Service director general) Sue McAllister and her team."
