Diabetes: 'My diabetes was a wake-up call'

The number of people living with diabetes in Northern Ireland has increased.

It is an autoimmune condition which results in the body not being able to produce enough insulin to control blood glucose.

During the last year, 3,500 more people were diagnosed with the condition here.

Diabetes UK says more awareness is needed around the reality of what life is like with diabetes.
