Camlough centenarian gets birthday wishes from the King and Pope

How much has changed in the last century? Quite a lot says centenarian Annie Maureen O'Hare.

Over the last 100 years, Mrs O'Hare has seen major technological advances and lived through times of global instability.

"At times I think it could be better. But there's far too many wars," she told BBC News NI.

The 2021 Census highlighted Northern Ireland is an ageing society - with the number of over 65s increasing by nearly 25% in just 10 years.

The number of centenarians also increased - from 228 in 2011 to 256 in 2021.

Originally born in Australia, she made the journey back to Camlough in County Armagh with her family when she was just six months old.

Now, she is celebrating her 100th birthday just a stone's throw away from where she grew up.

She even received well wishes from King Charles III, the President of Ireland and the Pope.
