TUC: 'There are alternatives to spending cuts'

Union leaders are meeting in Manchester for the TUC's annual congress with the government's planned cuts in public spending top of the agenda.

Opposition could take the form of co-ordinated industrial action, or even, according to the RMT's Bob Crow, a campaign of 'civil disobedience'.

The TUC's general secretary Brendan Barber said there was an alternative to the spending cuts.
