Chris Huhne's 'green deal to offset budget cuts'

Chris Huhne has set out his plans for a "green deal" that would "create a whole new industry to help offset the budget squeeze".

Speaking to delegates at the Lib Dem conference, the energy secretary said up to 250,000 jobs could be created by allowing companies to insulate homes and recover their costs from energy savings.

He suggested that 26 million homes "in every part of the country" could benefit under the plans.
