David Miliband had quit frontline politics, just days after he was narrowly beaten by his younger brother Ed in the Labour leadership contest.

Several other key Labour figures, including Jack Straw and John Alistair Darling, are also stepping away from the spotlight. So where does that leave the party? And what next for David Miliband?
