Hague to 'enshrine UK's sovereignty' from EU laws

Foreign Secretary William Hague has announced a "sovereignty clause on EU law" which will legislate that EU laws will only become enacted in the UK with Parliament's will.

Mr Hague said that Germany operates a similar legal process and it would not change the "day-to-day order in relation to EU law".

He also confirmed that if any future government wished to sign a treaty which moved powers to Europe a referendum would be required by law.
