Michael Howard and Ken Clarke on running prison service

Justice Secretary Ken Clarke wants a "rehabilitation revolution" within the criminal justice system and angered many on the right of his party by suggesting that prison doesn't always work for many offenders.

But sentencing guidelines announced this week could mean 3,000 fewer people each year being jailed for assault, which could save the prison service more than £16m a year. Giles Dilnot asks if Porridge works.
