David Cameron hails symbolic Orgreave's transformation

David Cameron has praised Orgreave, the site of one of the most symbolic clashes of the 1984 miners' strike, as an area of hi-tech innovation.

In a speech to the CBI the prime minister set out policies and investment designed to "put Britain back at the top table for innovation"

The Battle of Orgreave saw some of the most infamous and violent clashes of the dispute between the then Prime Minister, Margaret Thatcher and the leader of the National Union of Miners, Arthur Scargill.

At least 5,000 miners gathered outside the coking plant near Sheffield and were met by police from ten forces, leading to dozens of people suffering injuries and 81 arrests.
