'Happiness cannot be captured on spreadsheet'

The Prime Minister has launched a £2million national consultation on how to measure the nation's happiness.

The Office for National Statistics will be asking people what things matter most to them, like family, health and wealth, to devise new ways of gauging the effect of government policy on people's well being and quality of life.

David Cameron said that GDP is not an accurate measure of success.
