Lib Dem deputy Simon Hughes appointed to education role

A senior Lib Dem who abstained from the vote on raising tuition fees in England has been appointed by the government to help encourage poorer teenagers to go to university.

Speaking to the BBC's Norman Smith, Simon Hughes said he was aiming "to make sure no young person is deterred on the basis of misinformation or a lack of information", and that he felt it was "a job worth doing".
