Free museum entry took convincing Blair says Lord Smith
The coalition government has pledged to keep free museum entry, a policy in introduced in 2000 by the then Culture Secretary Chris Smith which led to more people passing through the turnstiles.
As part of our Changemakers series, Adam Fleming went to meet the now-ennobled Lord Smith at The British Museum. He said he had to convince Tony Blair to bring in the policy.
This is part of our series of interviews, entitled Changemakers, in which the Daily Politics talks to people who have radically changed Britain and they discuss their political legacy.
