Fish discards: Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall backs Europe move
Television chef Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall explains why he backs proposals to ban fishermen throwing up to half their catch back into the North Sea, but stops short of calling it a victory.
He said it was "a really good start and a very bold move" for the European Commission to set out its plan to end "fish discards", which currently allow fishermen to stay within their quotas by dumping some of their catch.
Fisheries Commissioner Maria Damanaki is set to announce proposals later.
