Balls: I'm not a deficit denier

Shadow Chancellor Ed Balls has described Government allegations that he is a "deficit denier", as "complete and utter nonsense".

Speaking on the Andrew Marr Show, Balls attacked George Osborne's spending cuts, blaming them for faltering economic growth.

He also admitted that it would take time for New Labour to rebuild public trust in their ability to manage the economy, after the global financial crisis.
