'Bigoted woman' Gillian Duffy confronts Nick Clegg
The Deputy Prime Minister, Nick Clegg, has been visiting Rochdale to unveil details of the government's regional growth fund, which is aimed at creating or safeguarding 100,000 jobs by investing £450m in businesses across England.
On arrival, Nick Clegg was challenged by Gillian Duffy, the Rochdale pensioner who confronted the former Prime Minister Gordon Brown over immigration at the last election.
He then called her "that bigoted woman", thinking his microphone was off.
Mrs Duffy pressed him over why he had gone into coalition with the Conservatives and whether he was happy with the policies the government was pursuing.
