First police commissioners elections in 2012 says Herbert

Home Office minister Nick Herbert said the coalition government will push ahead with plans for elected police commissioners next year, despite the plan being rejected by the House of Lords.

Mr Herbert told Jon Sopel that the first elections would be be held in 2012, and would follow the "huge success we've seen in London of giving the mayor responsibility for policing".
