MP's plan to give away bank shares is backed by Nick Clegg
Liberal Democrat MP Stephen Williams explained the bid to give bank shares to everyone on the electoral roll, an idea he first announced the plan on the Daily Politics in March.
The proposals to give away shares in part-nationalised banks RBS and Lloyds have been backed by Nick Clegg, but are not yet party policy or adopted by the coalition government.
But Labour peer Dame Bakewell described his plan as a gimmick.
