PMQs: Cameron says police elections will cost £25m
The prime minister said holding police elections in November 2012 will cost £25m, but that money would be not be taken from policing budgets.
The Labour leader said it was the "wrong priority at the wrong time for the country" and money was being wasted as the new elections were not being held at the same time as polls for local councils.
Ed Miliband added the £100m cost of 42 elected politicians to run forces could have paid for an 2,000 extra police officers on the streets, but David Cameron saved money would be saved as the current police authorities would be abolished.
