UK Border Agency 'not fit for purpose' - Mark Reckless
Conservative MP Mark Reckless said he would be very surprised if ministers had ordered UK Border Agency staff to relax rules on non-EU residents coming into Britain.
The MP, who sits on the Home Affairs Select Committee, also said the body was "mismanaged, still not fit for purpose and it needs to be sorted out".
Shadow Home Office Minister Chris Bryant said it would be dangerous to wave through all EU citizens, and he queried the staff levels to carry out checks.
Three UK Border Agency officials have been suspended over claims staff were told to relax checks on non-EU nationals.
