Murdoch 'was aware of NoW email'

News International chairman James Murdoch has told MPs he knew about the so-called "for Neville" email which suggested phone hacking went beyond a single reporter, but never actually saw it.

The Neville mentioned in the subject is assumed to be Neville Thurlbeck, the News of the World's then chief reporter, although he denies any involvement in hacking.

The committee focused on the email as proof that phone hacking at the News of the World was not restricted to one "rogue reporter" - jailed royal editor Clive Goodman.

Mr Murdoch told MPs that the full implications of the email were not made clear to him.
