50p tax cut debate: Grant Shapps and Caroline Flint

Grant Shapps spoke against the 50p tax rate but said it "had to take its place in the queue" when it came to priorities.

The housing minister thought it was more likely there would be action at the lower end of the tax scale.

He spoke after a film from plumber Charlie Mullins calling for the rate to be cut.

Caroline Flint repeated the Labour call for a cut in VAT which she said would help everyone as a previous temporary cut helped the UK economy and got people spending.
