Cash for access 'utterly disgraceful' - Danny Alexander

It is "utterly disgraceful" that a Conservative Party co-treasurer offered access to the prime minister at Chequers, Danny Alexander has said.

The Liberal Democrat chief secretary to the Treasury told Andrew Marr that party funding should be reformed after Peter Cruddas was secretly filmed apparently offering access to David Cameron for £250,000 a year.

Party funding last came under scrutiny when Tony Blair's government was embroiled in allegations that honours were awarded in return for cash for the Labour Party.
