William Hague on tanker drivers and fuel strike threat

William Hague has defended the government's handling of a threatened strike by tanker drivers, claiming it would have also have been criticised for doing nothing.

Demand has eased in many areas after panic-buying on Thursday and Friday, but he said the country "was in a better state of preparedness" should there be a strike.

There has been controversy over advice from Cabinet Office Minister Francis Maude over storing petrol in jerrycans in case of industrial action, although talks with Acas are now expected.
