Labour's Sadiq Khan on House of Lords referendum

The shadow justice and constitutional affairs secretary said Labour's manifesto called for a referendum on plans to change the House of Lords.

But Sadiq Khan could not say whether Labour would demand one before seeing the details of Monday's joint parliamentary committee, expected to recommend an elected upper chamber would only be possible if backed by public vote.

He told Andrew Neil: "We need to wait and see what the details are from this government, Andrew, that's my simple answer."
