Ken Livingstone 'to catch up on gardening' after election loss

The defeated London mayoral candidate Ken Livingstone has described the Tory victor, Boris Johnson, as a "do nothing mayor".

The veteran Labour politician said Mr Johnson, during his first term in office, simply "carried on opening the things I started".

Mr Livingstone, who is retiring from front line politics, warned that after eight years of Mr Johnson, firms will have decided that London "isn't working" and will move elsewhere.

He added that he would spend his time now catching up on gardening after spending months campaigning.
