Strike: Police Federation and PCS union on march

Mark Serwotka from the Public and Commercial Services Union claimed 400,000 public sector workers were taking part in a day of action over changes to their pensions and staffing levels.

Julie Nesbit from the Police Federation said the public would not stop calling just because of the number of officers had fallen, and explained why off-duty officers were taking part in the action.

The government claimed only 100,000 workers were taking part.
