Defamation Bill: Prof Brian Cox on libel law changes

Professor Brian Cox and the comedian Dara O' Briain have been to Downing Street to deliver a petition to make changes to the Defamation Bill.

The physicist said they wanted to prevent legal cases stopping debates about science. Some scientists have faced legal challenges for questioning the work of large corporations.

He told Andrew Neil the law should not be used to stop a "robust debate" and he cited cases about herbal tea and car seats facing legal threats.

MPs Douglas Alexander and Maria Miller gave their views on the proposed changes to the law.
