Margaret Hodge: 'True transparency' needed from G4S

MPs have warned the government to "get a grip" on security firm G4S to ensure the Olympic Games run smoothly.

The Commons Public Accounts Committee says the company, whose staff shortages have meant an extra 3,500 soldiers being drafted in, should be fined.

Its chairman, Labour MP Margaret Hodge, criticised G4S and the London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games (Locog) said they want ''true transparency'' from the companies.

She added that she will re-visit the situation in September, where the committee will see if the tax payer got value for money.
