Jack Straw admits considering Gordon Brown challenge

Former cabinet minister Jack Straw has admitted he and colleagues considered challenging Gordon Brown when he was prime minister.

Mr Straw, who had run the former PM's leadership campaign, said he discussed challenging Mr Brown with David Miliband, Alan Johnson and Harriet Harman.

He told Anne McElvoy on Radio Three's Night Waves that he had thought about running for Labour leader but decided that "others wanted it more".
