PM orders inquiry into North Wales child abuse claims
Correction 10 November 2012: The BBC has apologised unreservedly for broadcasting a report on Newsnight on 2 November over allegations of child abuse which transpired to have involved a case of mistaken identity. The Prime Minister has ordered a fresh investigation into allegations of sexual abuse involving a senior Conservative politician during the Thatcher era.
The allegations relate to the abuse of children living in care homes in North Wales during the 1970s and 80s.
A public inquiry was carried out 12 years ago but David Cameron has called for the previous probe to be examined.
