Leveson: Independent editor Chris Blackhurst on PM meeting
A national newspaper editor claimed "there's not a million miles between us" after his meeting with the prime minister and Culture Secretary Maria Miller over the Leveson Report.
The Independent's Chris Blackhurst said he and fellow editors were told to move quickly, stop arguing, be united and "come up with a strong coherent package for independent self-regulation".
He said the deal - expected to be agreed by Thursday - would still have to be "sold" to Parliament and the country at large.
Mr Blackhurst said the line-up of the panel was a "sticking point" but he did not think the public would accept a majority of serving editors, when he spoke to the Daily Politics' Jo Coburn with ConservativeHome editor Tim Montgomerie.
