Prime Minister David Cameron: 'No to drugs decriminalisation'

The prime minister has rejected the idea of top-level inquiry, or royal commission, into the issue of the decriminalisation of illegal drugs.

David Cameron said he did not support decriminalisation and added that the drugs policy currently in place is working.

The Commons Home Affairs committee is suggesting that ministers should consider ending criminal penalties for people found with small quantities of drugs, if they go into a treatment programme.
