Youth unemployment: Councils 'could cut by 20%'

The Local Government Association has claimed youth unemployment could be cut by 20% if a "new local approach" was taken to the problem.

A report by the LGA found young people's employment prospects are being hampered by excessive bureaucracy and central government control.

David Sparks of the LGA said: "We could reduce youth unemployment by 20% over the next three years"
