Gerry Adams: 'Thatcher's Ireland policy was a total failure"

The Sinn Fein President Gerry Adams has described Baroness Thatcher's policy on Ireland "as a total and absolute failure".

Speaking from Belfast following the former prime minister's death, Mr Adams said she had done "great hurt to working class communities across Britain and also people in Ireland".

He also accused her of "embracing collusion" and of playing a "shameful role" in the IRA hunger strike of 1981.
