Nick Clegg stands firm on childcare ratio row
Nick Clegg has defended his opposition to a coalition plan to raise the number of children childminders and nursery staff can look after in England.
Speaking on his radio phone-in on LBC, the deputy prime minister said the response to a consultation by the Department of Education suggested that the proposals would not be practical and would not necessarily see a reduction in costs.
In an urgent question on the subject in the Commons, Labour said that the coalition's plans were in "chaos".
