GPs 'shouldn't blindly follow targets' says Hunt
The health secretary has said that GPs should be responsible for ensuring that there is a good out of hours service for people on their lists.
But he denied that GPs were to blame for the increasing pressures and patient numbers in A&E departments.
Speaking on the Andrew Marr Show, Jeremy Hunt admitted it was now harder for health professionals to hit their targets.
He said although the targets still matter, he did not want people to blindly follow the targets 'at any costs'.
The health secretary also acknowledged there have been 'teething problems' with the new 111 service, but told Jeremy Vine that these had now been resolved.
