Sir Menzies Campbell's concern over 'intrusive' Data Bill
Former Liberal Democrat leader Sir Menzies Campbell has expressed concerns about a bill allowing the security forces access to people's email and mobile phone records, following the murder of Drummer Lee Rigby.
Speaking to BBC Radio 4's The World at One, Sir Menzies Campbell said the Communications Data Bill represented "a very substantial intrusion into people's lives".
The Home Secretary, Theresa May, says the security services must be allowed access to people's email and mobile phone records to identify people that she said were "potentially at risk" of being radicalised in the UK.
The bill, dubbed by critics as the "Snooper's Charter", was dropped because of opposition from the Liberal Democrats.
