Alexander: Hague made wrong decision on Syria

The Shadow Foreign Secretary has said he fears that William Hague's decision to break the EU embargo on supplying arms to Syrian rebels was "the wrong one".

Douglas Alexander told Eddie Mair that if both the Syrian government and the rebels felt they were guaranteed arms, the incentive for both parties to attend peace talks would be 'diminished'.

Speaking on the Andrew Marr Show, Douglas Alexander said there were very serious doubts about the judgements the Foreign Secretary had made, and that the decisions William Hague had made could mean the peace talks may not happen.
