Queen's secret 1983 nuclear war speech revealed
An address the Queen might have delivered if Britain found itself on the verge of nuclear war has been released to the National Archives.
Other previously secret documents, released by the government under the 30-year rule, show that the Prime Minister of the time, Margaret Thatcher, was considering the use of troops to break a future coal miners' strike.
They also reveal that Mrs Thatcher blocked the appointment of a young William Hague to a role as special adviser to the Treasury, complaining it was "a gimmick".
