Fracking: Tim Yeo on UK and US regulation and prices

The UK would be "rather better" at regulating fracking for gas than the US has been, said the elected chair of the climate change select committee.

Conservative MP Tim Yeo spoke of "different traditions" and fracking being "a bit cavalier in some parts of America".

And he would prefer Britain to use gas from home, rather than the Middle East or Norway, and he claimed that could have "some effect on stabilising gas prices."

Mr Yeo spoke to Today's Jim Naughtie after the energy firm Cuadrilla announced it was scaling back its work at an exploration site in West Sussex on police advice.
