Syria crisis: Diplomacy has not worked, says William Hague
Diplomatic pressure has not worked on Syria, the foreign secretary says, as UN inspectors prepare to visit the site of a suspected chemical attack.
William Hague told the BBC the UK was considering its options and it would be possible to respond without the unanimous backing of the UN.
He also said the UN Security Council, which is split over Syria, had not "shouldered its responsibilities".
Any response would be "in accordance with international law", he added.
